The wheelchair has a seat (12) and foot supports (16) and drive wheels (3) which are mounted on the ends of a cross beam (4). In the centre area of the cross beam is fixed a frame (5) which extends in the direction of travel. The frame has a first rear facing and upwardly projecting frame section (11) on which is mounted the seat. A second frame section (14) extends downwards and has foot supports and at least one swivel castor (15) attached to it.
