TACTILE SECTION OF A PRESSURE SENSOR

The proposal is for the tactile section of a pressure sensor. Hollow cylinders of incompressible, highly elastic material are fitted into a rigid matrix with axial holes to be level on one surface and projecting on the other. Into the projecting side of the hollow cylinders light is beamed in which emerges at the other end with an intensity varying to different degrees depending on the extent to which the lumen of the hollow cylinder concerned has been narrowed by axial pressure. Owing to the fact that they are embedded in the rigid matrix, the hollow cylinders cannot exert pressure on and hence transversely influence one another.
