Vane type compressor for e.g. air conditioner used in motor vehicle

The compressor includes front (20) and rear (25) side bodies fixed to the opposing front and rear surfaces of a cam ring (1). A rotor (2) is stored in the cam ring and is rotated by a drive shaft (7). Vanes slides on vane grooves formed to the rotor. A pair of bearings (8,9) are installed on predetermined parts of the drive shaft to support it as it rotates with the rotor. Compression spaces are enclosed by the side bodies, the cam ring, the rotor, and the vanes. A shaft seal chamber (60) is formed between the shaft seals installed on the peripheral surfaces of the shaft and one of the bearings. Two guide paths (30,32) are formed on the front side body. One of the guide paths leads low pressure coolant from the shaft seal chamber to any of the compression spaces. The other guide path leads coolant during compression stroke from the compression space to the shaft seal chamber.
