The headlamp unit has at least one light source (28) and at least one reflector (26) contained within a lamp housing (20) having a light exit window (22) at the front fitted with a transparent lamp glass (24). The lamp housing is in the form of a frame which is open on the opposite side to the lamp glass and is fitted in a recess (14) in a vehicle body part (10), with an elastic sealing element (54) between the rear edge of the housing and the wall of the recess.
