PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid generation of disclination lines and to obtain high display contrast by forming a spacer in a nonpixel part of at least one of first and second substrates. SOLUTION: This panel consists of a first substrate 11 on which pixel electrodes 13, first polymer films 16 and spacers 4 are formed, a second substrate 12 on which a counter electrode 14 and a second polymer film 17 are formed, and a sealing part 18 to seal liquid crystal molecules 19 between the first substrate 11 and the second substrate 12. The first polymer films 16 and the second polymer film 17 are not subjected to uniaxial orientation treatment such as rubbing so that these films have such a surface state that do not control the liquid crystal molecules 19 to a certain direction in the plane. Therefore, the liquid crystal molecules 19 are randomly oriented to form lots of minute oriented regions 1 in the pixel 15. Further, the first polymer films 16 and the second polymer film 17 consist of polymer films such as polyamic acid, polyimide and polyamide. |
