PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a thermoplastic resin suitable as a raw material for a matte coating with high durability by copolymerizing a diene polymer, such as polybutadiene or polyisoprene, with anα,β-monoethylenic monomer, such as methyl (meth)acrylate. SOLUTION: This resin is produced by copolymerizing 0.1-10wt.% compound (A) of a structure of formula I or II (wherein R is H, methyl or halogeno; and m and n are each 2 or greater) and 90-99.9wt.%α,β-monoethylenic monomer (B). The compound A comprises, e.g a polybutadiene, a polyisoprene or a styrene/butadiene copolymer, preferably one that is liquid at ordinary temperature in particular. Examples of monomer B used include acrylates such as methyl (meth)acrylate, (meth)acrylic acid, maleic acid, acrylamides and styrene. The resin can be produced by any one of various known methods of polymerization in the presence of a polymerization initiator.
