PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cathode-ray tube having an electron gun which uses an Ni-Cr sleeve which can secure the desired electron emission characteristic. SOLUTION: A high-temperature heat treated film is formed on a bed through the grain boundary or micropinhole part of the high temperature heat treated film that has been subjected to heat treatments such as oxidation, reduction, and blackening while 10<-4> g/2μm<2> to 10<-8> g/2μm<2> of carbon remains clinging to the surface of an Ni cap 31 equipped with an Ni-Cr sleeve 32 that was cleaned by washing and removing press oil with an organic solvent or a water- soluble washing agent. The amount of elusion from the bed Ni-Cr is controlled so that the amount of Fe is within 0.0001 to 0,01mg per 3 to 15mg of the weight of the Ni-Cr, that the amount of Ni is within 0.001 to 1mg per 3 to 15mg of the weight of the Ni-Cr, and that the amount of Cr is within 0.01 to 0.7mg per 3 to 15mg of the weight of the Ni-Cr.
