PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a repairing material for a kiln appropriately used for a thermit process. SOLUTION: This repairing material is: (1) a material for performing the repairs of a kiln by utilizing the heat of combustion of a constituent powdery metal of the material as a heat source, wherein the powdery metal consists of granules each of which has a powdery Mg or Mg-based alloy nucleus, a synthetic resin coating layer formed on the periphery of the nucleus and further a powdery Si or Si based alloy rim layer deposited on the periphery of the synthetic resin coating layer and also adjusted granule size; or (2) a material consisting of a powdery refractory and the powdery metal described in (1), wherein the powdery refractory consists of 97 to 78% of basic aggregate contg. MgO as a major component, 3 to 22% of at least one additive selected from ZrO2 , Cr2 O3 and SiO2 -based compounds or of at least another additive selected from additive materials each capable of forming any one of these oxides in the atmosphere at the time of subjecting the additive material to thermal spraying. Thus, by using the repairing material, an excellent repairing effect can be obtained and also, the operational efficiency of a kiln can be enhanced and further, a wide variety of thermal spraying repairs corresponding to different kinds of damage of various furnace materials or kilns can be performed. |
