PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refractory coated with zirconia and usable repeatedly because countless fine cracks formed on a surface covered layer absorb expansion or shrinkage due to heating or cooling and a crack frequency of the refractory due to thermal shock is low and a refractory coated with zirconia in which the cracks generated on the surface of the refractory are repaired. SOLUTION: The refractory coated with zirconia is obtained by applying a slurry consisting essentially of the zirconia having <=1μm average grain size on the surface of the refractory to be burned and burning the slurry, and the average grain size of the layer coated with the zirconia is <=2μm and film thickness is 200μm and the countless fine cracks are present on the coated layer. And a paste consisting essentially of zirconia having <=1μm average grain size is embedded to the refractory on whose surface the cracks are generated and the slurry consisting essentially of zirconia having <=1μm average grain size is applied thereon and burned. |
