PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the production of a high strength carbon material by casting. SOLUTION: This production comprises: (a) adding a powdery mixture that is prepared so as to have self-sintering properties by mixing powdery carbon having no self-sintering properties with a powdery thermosetting resin precondensate used as a sintering aid, or powdery carbon having self-sintering properties, together with a 0.5 to 4.0wt.% deflocculant to water; (b) in order to disperse the powdery carbon and the deflocculant into water, mixing and pulverizing the resulting mixture until the mixture is formed into a slip in which powdery flocculate particles have a <=10μm average particle size and which has a <=150mPa.s viscosity as a whole; (c) casting the slip into a casting mold having a desired shape to form a formed body; and then, (d) sintering the formed body at >=800 deg.C under vacuum or in an inert gas atmosphere. |
