摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the generation quantity of NOx and a soot to about zero by setting up an exhaust gas recirculating rate during the high load operation of an engine to a specified value in an in-cylinder injection type internal combustion engine where a fuel is injected into a combustion chamber at a specified angle before a compression dead top center, and the average grain diameter of a then injected fuel is specified. SOLUTION: Feul is injected into a combustion chamber 5 from a fuel injection valve 10 provided at the top of a combustion chamber 5 during a compression stroke or an intake stroke before about 60 degrees in front of a compression upper dead center, and then average grain diameter of the fuel is set up to be larger than a grain diameter in the case where grain temperature attains the boiling point of a main fuel component decided on then pressure at about compression upper dead point or after the said point. After then, until reaching the about compression upper dead point, the evaporation due to boiling of fuel from the fuel grain is checked, and the grained fuel is boiledly evaporated after the about compression upper dead point to brun the fuel. In this case an exhaust gas recirculating rate during the high load operation of the engine is controlled about 40% or more by an exhaust gas recirculating control valve 16 to check the generation of NOx and a soot.
