PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the density nonuniformity of a picture and to quickly and automatically read the density of an original by freely changing the stop position of a scanner structure at the time of stand-by and reading the original density. SOLUTION: A home position sensor 9 is provided at a home position where the scanner structure 25 is stopped at the time of stand-by. The scanner structure 25 is stopped in a state where it is deviated from the home position for the portion of reading quantity in automatic original density reading(ADS). Concerning the stop position, the scanner structure 25 is previously set to be stopped at the time of stand-by at the position being 15mm from a read edge 10 when reading is started from the position being 5mm from the position of an original tip and executed for the portion of 10mm, for example. The ADS is executed when the scanner structure 25 is inverted and moved to the home position. Therefore, the scanner structure 25 is not required to be moved from the home position for pre-scanning and the ADS reading is quickly executed. |
