BASE FILM FOR PHOTOGRAPHIC FILM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base film for a photographic film which is composed essentially of polyethylene-2,6-naphthalene dicarbopdylate and has excellent transparency and dimensional stability and good flatness. SOLUTION: This film has the various properties shown below. When the film is kept at 110 deg.C for 24 hours, the heat shrinkage ration in the longitudinal direction of the film is <=0.25% and the difference between the max. and min. shrinkage rations in the width direction is <=0.10%. The amt. of phosphorus in the film ranges >=15ppm and <=200ppm in terms of phosphorus atoms. The film is embossed in the both side edges and one or more position between the side edges to have 5 to 40μm height of the embosses. The difference in the height of two or more embosses present on a line perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the film is <=10μm. The sticking degree between films where no emboss is formed is the third class or lower.
