HUMECTANT AND PREPARATION FOR EXTERNAL USE FOR SKIN CONTAINING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a preparation for external use for skin, containing a new humectant excellent in moisture retaining property and having loull hygroscopic property under a high moisture and capable of imparting refreshing feeling to skin by excellent moisture retaining effect. SOLUTION: This preparation for external use for skin contains a humectant comprising L-theanine. L-Theanine is one ingredient of flavor of green tea and has extermely high moisture-retaining effect, compared with a conventional humectant and does not affect influence of moisture. L-Glutamic acid-γ-ethylester is reacted with chlorocarboxylic acid benzyl ester and then ethylamine and the reacted product is hydrogenated to provide L-theanine. Skin lotion blending L-theanine therein has good moistening feeling after using and is excellent in moisture retaining property and has no stickiness.
