PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make two characteristics such as wide visual field and high luminance compatible by providing a reflection film in the gap of a luminous flux extending means having periodic structure. SOLUTION: In this liquid crystal display device; light emitted from a backlight passes through a back-side polarizing plate 4, a liquid crystal cell 3, a front-side polarizing plate 2 and the luminous flux extending means 1. The means 1 is an optical array body having the periodic structure in a surface direction, and the reflection film is provided in the gap of the periodic structure. The means 1 provided on the front surface functions so as to extend the angle of visibility of the light emitted from the plate 2 on the outside of the cell 3. The light emitted from the high-efficiency backlight becomes image light in the cell 3 and passes through the means 1, so that display can be viewed at the wide angle of visibility. The means 1 is constituted of polygon trapezoid array 1C, and black paint 1X is arranged on the outside of the reflection film 1R arranged at a part of the gap of the periodic structure of the optical array body. |
