PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a heat-sensitive recording material having higher recording sensitivity and excellent picture quality by a method wherein the density of a heat-sensitive coloring layer is set to be a value lying within a specified range. SOLUTION: A heat-sensitive coloring layer, which is formed in a sheet-like support and has a porous structure, is formed by applying a bubble-containing resin liquid, which is formed by scattering a large number of fine bubbles through mechanical agitation in a liquid-like matter mainly containing a dye precursor, a developer and a binding resin, and drying it. The preferable density of a coating layer having the porous structure is 0.1-0.8g/cm<3> . If the density is 0.1g/cm<3> or less, the thickness of the film for constituting bubbles becomes too thin to maintain the strength of the resultant heat-sensitive coloring layer at enough high level. If the density exceeds 0.8g/cm<3> , unsatisfactory heat insulating properties and cushioning properties result and no aimed sensitivity and picture quality are obtained. |
