PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermoelectric transducer material having high performance and excellent mechanical strength which is mainly formed by atmospheric sintering, and manufacture thereof. SOLUTION: A thermoelectric transducer material is made of a sintered material of an alloy containing at least two kinds of elements or more selected from the group consisting of Bi, Te, Se and Sb. The sintered material contains Ga or an alloy phase including Ga, and this Ga or alloy phase including Ga exists on the grain boundary of the sintered material. A compact, formed by molding mixed powder of an alloy containing at least two kinds of elements or more and Ga or an alloy containing Ga with a content of 0.1-20% by volume with respect to the entire quantity of the thermoelectric transducer material, is sintered at a temperature equal, to or higher than the melting start temperature of Ga or the alloy containing Ga in a non-oxide atmosphere, thereby manufacturing the thermoelectric transducer material. The compact is obtained by molding composite powder which is formed by applying Ga or the alloy containing Ga onto the surface of the alloy powder containing at least two kinds of elements or more. |
