PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize combustion state at lean-burn drive by strengthening the gas flow in a combustion chamber. SOLUTION: Respective auxiliary intake passages 8 are integrally provided in being spaced out in left and right on the upper part of a main intake passage 4. A downstream end 8B of each auxiliary intake passage 8 tubularly projects into the main intake passage 4 by a prescribed projectionΔL, and is directed toward a combustion chamber 3. Since the inflow distance L1 from the downstream end 8B to the combustion chamber 3 is shortened, the flow rate of the auxiliary intake air flow FS directed into the combustion chamber 3 is increased while an intake control valve 7 is closed, to strengthen the tumble FT, thereby stabilizing combustion state at lean-burn drive.
