PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus which are not affected by the ambient temperature of a dispensing nozzle irrespective of the kind of a liquid, by which the liquid in a prescribed amount can be sucked into the dispensing nozzle always precisely and without any irregularity even when slight leak is generated in the connection part or the like of the dispensing nozzle and which enhance the accuracy of a dispensing operation. SOLUTION: When a liquid 18 inside a liquid container 16 is sucked into a dispensing nozzle 12 from its power-end port, whether the upper end of the liquid sucked into the dispensing nozzle has reached a prescribed height position is detected by photoelectric sensors 38a, 38b. The sucking operation of the liquid into the dispensing nozzle is stopped at a point of time when it is detected that the upper end of the liquid has reached the prescribed height position. Thereby, the liquid in a prescribed amount is sucked into the dispensing nozzle.
