PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve durability of an ink jet recorder without impairing reliability on inferiority in discharge owing to paper powder, solid waste, etc., by a method wherein a control mode of a means of executing recovery operation of a recording head is selected according to an amount of a stored printing operation. SOLUTION: A control part 20 is equipped with a ROM 20b storing a control program of a CPU 20a and various data, a RAM 20c executing temporary storage of the various data, and a read/write non-volatile EEPROM 20d capable of recording the number of printed printing sheets, the frequency of scans of a carriage, etc., without being governed according to on or off of a power source. When printing is started, the number of times P of scanning with the carriage and its cumulative number of times PT are read from adresses [n] and [n+1] of the EEPROM 20d, and stored in the RAM 20c. Then, an interval T wherein recovery operation is carried out according to the number of times of PT and the number of the times CP are selected from addresses [n], [n+1], [n+2], [n+3], [n+5], and [n+6] of the ROM 20b. |
