The apparatus serves for handling transport units and comprises a chassis and two telescope jibs guided telescopically in the chassis. Transverse end beams are secured to the telescope jibs including locking means. Moreover, at least one transverse beam is provided on the chassis including additional locking means. Two transverse beams extend substantially parallel to one another and are disposed in displaceable manner in the longitudinal direction of the chassis. One each of the transverse beams is coupled to one each of the transverse end beams.
