PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform the reading of recorded information more accurately. SOLUTION: A shift register 23 outputs data written in all bits B1∼B8 as parallel data. A weighting circuit 25 performs the weighting of data every channel of B1∼B8 based on a preset weighting pattern. In this weighting, a weighting coefficient to be obtained a curve indicating the light intensity distribution in the cross section of a laser spot is used. An adder circuit 27 successively adds the parallel data after the impartation of the weighting coefficient to generate a stepped wave and outputs it to a comparator circuit 31. A ramp circuit 29 generates a ramp wave by reading in output data from the bit B4 of the shift register 23 and outputs it to a comparator circuit 31. The comparator circuit 31 generates a pulse signal rising by being synchronized with the cross point between the inclination of the rising side of the ramp wave and the stepped wave and falling by being synchronized with the cross point between the inclination of the falling side of the ramp wave and the stepped wave and outputs it.
