The invention relates to the preparation of a new Bacillus cereus bacterium strain, which synthesizes in different media, intracellular aspartase enzyme having a high catalytic activity which responds to biocatalysts demands; it comprises a short culture cycle (6 hours) with a high final product index, obtained in the form of a pure optical isomer (aspartic acid L-form [0]D20=25.5??), e.g., a strain having racemase activity. The strain (biocatalyst) of this invention was selected from a variety of microorganism pure strains, isolated from different natural substrates (water and soil) cultured in nutritive agar. The strain is kept in the pure microorganisms collection, at the Biotechnology Department of the Faculty of Chemical Sciences of the U.A.C., its Number being SC 3115.
