PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To construct an economical ATM network by outputting ATM cell current where plural signals are directly converted into prescribed ATM cells based on the output of an identifying device to be multiplexed in a multiplex signal. SOLUTION: An ATM cell converting device 3' only identifies the respective multiplexed DS1 signals without executing separation, executes ATM cell conversion corresponding to the quality of the respective signals and outputs them to the ATM network 5'. Concreatly, only a payload after the removal of the overhead of the DS1 signal is taken-out concerning DSI for treating the signal from the ATM terminal, a header is searched so as to obtain cell synchronization for returning the original cell and an output is executed. Concerning DS1 for treating a picture terminal, picture information is information of a fixed bit rate being the same as voice information so that the DS1 signal itself adding overhead is divided in accordance with a rule fixed in AAL 1 so as to be inputted to the payload of the ATM cell, converted into the ATM cell where the prescribed header adding a time stamp RST by SRTS is added and outputted. |
