PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device capable of selecting arbitrary data from among luminance characteristic data previously prepared by a user in accordance with the status and kinds of video. SOLUTION: In a picture receiver displaying an inputted video signal on a display section 14, a γ processing section 13 correcting a luminance characteristic is inserted to the preceding stage of the display section 14, at least a memory 15 storing luminance characteristic data taking a serious view of linearity at the time of still picture and luminance characteristic data taking a serious view of dynamic feeling at the time of animation and a control section 18 controlling switching the γ processing section 13 by a switching signal are connected to this γ processing section 13. In this case, when it is switched to a still picture use, the γprocessing section 13 is switched to a still picture use, corresponding luminance characteristic data previously prepared is fetched from the memory 15, and control of γ correction processing is performed. When it is switched to an animation use, in the same way, corresponding luminance characteristic data is fetched from the memory 15, and control of γ correction processing is performed. |
