PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure superior lubricity over a long period of time. SOLUTION: This magnetic recording medium has at least a magnetic layer, a protective film layer and a lubricant layer on the nonmagnetic substrate and further has an aluminum coupling agent layer between the protective film layer and the lubricant layer or has at least a magnetic layer and a protective film layer on the nonmagnetic substrate and further has a layer contg. a lubricant and an aluminum coupling agent on the protective film layer. The aluminum coupling agent is, e.g. a compd. represented by the formula [(CH3 )2 CHO]2 - Al-O-C(CH3 )=CH-CO-O-Cn H2n-1 [where (n) is an integer of 10-20] and the lubricant is, e.g, a perfluoro-polyether lubricant. |
