A light producing ornament, for use with a canister of fuel having an upwardly projecting wick capable of producing a candle type flame, comprises a body having a generally planar bottom surface and having a width and length considerably greater than its height, and provided with a recess communicating with its lower surface and capable of accommodating the canister. At least an upper central portion of the body above the recess is formed as a layer of castable, non-combustible material, this upper portion having a vertical bore communicating with the recess so that the canister can be fitted into the recess with its wick extending up through the bore. Decorative materials simulating natural objects are arranged around the upper end of the bore and adhered to the castable material so that a flame coming from the wick of the canister, together with the decorative material, simulates a campfire.
