The munition has a main charge with a primer relay (2) located inside it and protected, at least on its radial faces, by an attenuator (21), e.g. of steel or tungsten, which alters the impedance of a shock. The attenuator can be made from a number of layers (31,32,33) of different materials, and has a material (32) with a low impedance to shock, such as cork, sandwiched between two layers (31,33) of materials with a high impedance. Preferably the primer relay can be attached to one end wall of the munition and have all its open surfaces covered by attenuation layers. The attenuator can also preferably be made in sections with gaps between to prevent confinement of the charge.
