PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a diffraction grating which is a diffraction grating used for an optical head, has high utilization efficiency of light, is small in side and light in weight and facilitates production. SOLUTION: A photosettable liquid crystalline compd. is held between substrates 1A and 1B having electrodes 2A, 2B patterned to a stripe form so as to form the diffraction grating and such oriented films 3A, 3B which make the twist angle of the liquid crystalline compd. of 270 deg.. The compd. is cured by irradiating the compd. with light while impressing voltage between the electrodes 2A, 2B, by which the liquid crystal diffraction grating periodically changed in the orientation direction of the liquid crystal polymer 4 is produced. |
