PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce write penalty by providing a 1st buffer for holding 1st data coming from the outside and a 2nd buffer for holding 2nd data read out of a disk medium, and exclusively ORing the 1st and 2nd data. SOLUTION: A command CMD from a high-order disk array controller is passed through a host interface control part 31 and analyzed by a command analytic part 32 and control signals DAdr, EAdr, WSW and RSW are driven. Read/write data are buffered by high-order and low-order disk side FIFO buffers 33 and 34, a buffer memory 36 is positioned on the side of the high-order disk array controller, and a buffer memory 37 is positioned on the side of a low-order disk medium 38. Then, the outputs of the buffer memories 36 and 37 are exclusively ORed by an EOR circuit 35 and the input/output data of the buffer memories 36 and 37 are segmented by data selectors 36b and 37b. |
