<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase/decrease the number of users to be contained without the need for increase/decrease in the quantity of hardware by conducting cell processing with a cell buffer and RAM required for an ABR service with a trunk in common use for all input line adaptor sections. SOLUTION: A few of cell buffers Bu as ABR trunks are prepared in common for lots of transmission terminal equipments and a controller C is provided with a means connecting a selected ABR trunk 3 adaptively to a communication line from a transmission terminal equipment upon a request from the transmission terminal equipment. In internal links 6-1-6-4 connecting each ABR trunk 3 to any transmission terminal equipment, when the internal link 6-3 is used for a plurality of the transmission terminal equipments, the links are assigned as virtual channels corresponding to the transmission terminal equipments, and the exchange includes an internal link assignment section 10 to set an assigned band of each virtual channel adaptively in response to transmission traffic of each transmission terminal equipment. Thus, an input line adaptor section does not individually a function for ABR processing but has a trunk for common use processing.</p> |
