Method for positioning on a support(1) an automobile dashboard indicator dial(11). The dial(11) is mounted on the support(1) via a pin(2) whilst allowing a certain degree of displacement. The dial is then displaced on the support until it meets a stop position is met. The support(1) and the dial(11) are arranged to be fitted to each other at the pin(2) and the dial is rotated around the pin(2) until its centre hole passes over pins(3) which lock the dial into position. Once the dial is fixed the pointer is added.
