PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily select/transmit a function number by automatically extracting the function symbol out of a character string sent from a host, displaying the function symbol while inverting it, and transmitting that function symbol to the host by pen tap or mouse click. SOLUTION: Terminal equipment 1105 receives service information from the host and displays index item information containing plural function symbols on a display means 2115. A function symbol extracting means 2110 extracts the part of function symbols including the periphery as well contained in plural pieces of index information and instructs clear display. Then, a pointing means 2109 detects the selecting instruction of a user to the clearly displayed part of function symbols including the periphery as well and based on the detected result, the display means 2115 is retrieved. Namely, the extracted part of the function symbols is displayed while being inverted and by performing pen tap or mouse click for that part displayed while being inverted, these inverted function symbols are transmitted to the host.
