The invention relates to the chemical industry and describes a production of middle runnings of vegetable oil. In the first stage of the production method the fatty acids or triglycerides of vegetable oil are hydrogenated to n-paraffins and in the second stage said n-paraffins are catalytically converted into branched- chain paraffins. With the new two-stage process high quality middle runnings can be produced from vegetable oils, said middle runnings being suitable as a component of diesel fuel without special specification.
