PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small portable information device which is capable of protecting circuit components from failure caused by breakdown voltage even if a battery not specified is used, and also capable of prompting a user to replace the battery by giving a warning that wrong batteries are put in. SOLUTION: This small portable information device 1, driven by a circuit voltage based on the voltage of a battery 26 installed, is provided with a protecting means 25, which protects a component 27 of a low withstand voltage by making the circuit voltage applied to the component 27 lower than its rated withstand voltage, even if a battery of higher voltage than the specified voltage is installed. This protecting means 25 operates a warning means 24 which warns that the voltage of a battery put in is not as specified to lower the circuit voltage. |
