MANUFACTURE OF CADMIUM ELECTRODE PLATE FOR ALKALINE STORAGE BATTERY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the dissolving amount (the amount of loss) of methyl cellulose in a washing solution in washing a formed electrode plate. SOLUTION: Active material paste containing an active material comprising cadmium oxide and a binder comprising methyl cellulose is filled in a current collector to form an un-formed electrode plate in which an un-formed active material layer is formed on the current collector. The un-formed electrode plate is pressed in the thickness direction so that the density of the un-formed active material layer becomes 2.3-3.6g/cc, then formation is conducted to form a formed electrode plate. The formed electrode plate is immersed in pure water flowing in the prescribed flow rate to remove a forming solution in the formed electrode plate. The amount of methyl cellulose in the formed electrode plate after washing to that in the formed electrode plate before washing becomes 80wt.% or more.
