PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery improved so that battery efficiency does not decrease even when the area of an electrode is enlarged. SOLUTION: This nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery has a positive electrode 10, a carbon negative electrode 11 capable of absorbing/releasing lithium ions, and a nonaqueous electrolyte, and at least one of the width and the length of the positive electrode 10 and the negative electrode 11 is made 10cm or more but 20cm or less, and holes 15 or grooves 16 are formed in at least one of the positive electrode 10 and the negative electrode 11.
