The incubator for a new born infant comprises an under frame (2) which supports the infant. A canopy (4) is arranged on the under frame and encloses an incubator chamber (3). A number of distributor plates (21,23,25) are arranged on the inner side of the canopy to form a number of air channels (22,24,26). A fan (11) circulates the air through the channels and a heater (13) warms the air. The incubator has an air reservoir (28) formed in the canopy by an increase in the distance between the inner side of the canopy and the distributor plates. In this area, the speed of the circulating air is slower.
