The cutter machine has a circular blade and the distance of the material rest (23) at right angles to the cutting plane (6) is adjustable by an adjustment device between a minimum distance and further distance. The setting device for the stop plate (7) is coupled to this adjustment device; so that when the stop plate is moved into the safety position, the distance of the material rest from the cutting plane is changed to the further distance and when the stop plate is moved into the cutting position the distance is changed to the minimum distance. The minimum distance of the material rest from the cutting plane is constant in each cutting position of the stop plate.
