<p>An ink for an on-demand type ink jet recording system wherein ink droplets are ejected through a nozzle upon heating. The ink comprises (i) a colorant, (ii) a chelating agent capable of bonding to metallic ions to form a water-soluble complex, and (iii) water or a mixture of water with a water-soluble organic solvent. The chelating agent is contained in an amount large enough to convert the metallic ions in the ink to a complex, and the pH of the ink is 6 to 10. The above ink can prevent nozzle clogging and failure in printing caused by deposition of insolubles derived from the metallic ions onto a heating head.</p> |
