A godet wheel for heating a running synthetic thread has a rotatable casing (2) which can be heated through a radial gap (4) by a first heating device (1) located on a stationary carrier (8). A second heater (5) is applied to the inside end face (2a) of the casing to balance out its surface temperature, especially in the border region (2b) near the end face. Preferably, to conserve energy, the second heater is connected to the first or, as a radiator applied near to or on the casing end face, it is connected to a winding which is coupled to the primary winding (1), serving as the first heater, to produce an induced secondary current.
