<p>A retractable device (10) for mounting a length of high speed coaxial cable (18) is taught. The device (10) allows for easy connection of coaxial cable (18) to various electronic devices while also being readily disconnected and stored as needed. The device (10) comprises a compact housing (12) containing a thin coaxial cable (18) having connectors (14, 16) at each end. The cable (18) can be dispensed from the housing (12) as needed and then drawn back into the housing (12) using an actuator (20), such as a crank handle (22), following use. The device (10) is particularly effective for establishing temporary electronic signal connections, such as connecting a television to a cable television signal source or a computer to a computer network. The coaxial cable (18) used in the present invention is capable of high speed signal transmission, such as accurately transmitting a primary signal frequency in excess of 40,000 Hz.</p> |
