The brake has brake jaws (13) applied against a disc (15) and a cylinder (16) with a piston (18) and cylinder (17) connected to respective jaws. There is a connection with one (24) of the chambers of the cylinder forming the clamping cylinder. The clamping pressure source (25) drives the piston in one direction. The release chamber (26) of the cylinder is connected to a control circuit (27) to drive the piston in the opposite direction. The clamping pressure source includes a hydropneumatic pressure reservoir (29) outside the body of the cylinder. The release control has a reservoir (82,282) containing a temperature sensor at the same conditions as the volume of gas in the hydro-pneumatic reservoir.
