The system increases the coefficient of friction of parts (5) of the component surface. During pressure by the punch, components are pressed into the work surface so as to form indentations in a random pattern. The components can consist of particles scattered over the work surface after application of an adhesive. The work can be round, with the surface to be treated at right angles to its centre line. It can be a gearwheel, the surface (5) being part of one of its endfaces.
