The exhaust gases flow through one or more proceSsing devices (9,12) by means of at least one valve designed as a fluid distributor valve (3) free of moving parts and having an inlet pipe (2) supplying the exhaust gas and an outlet pipe (4) which allows at least two outlet streams (6,13). The outlet streams are alternately adjustable and each supplied to another processing device (9,12) in dependence on at least one operating parameter. The processing devices associated with the two outlet streams are arranged coaxial with each other or in succession.
