The appliance comprises a number of rollers with shaped projecting surfaces attached to coaxial toothed wheels meshed together and to a drive wheel manually activated by a pull cord. The housing has side walls (1) with strengthening members (2) bearing the axles (3) of the rollers which are rotated through interconnected gears (4) driven by a wheel (5) to which a cord (7) is attached (10) running in a groove (6). The surfaces of the rollers may be profiled with hemispheres, or spiral, longitudinal or W- or M-shaped ribs.
