PROCESS FOR PRODUCING CALCIUM HYDROXIDE

A process for producing calcium hydroxide having a large specific surface area is disclosed. In this process, powdery calcium oxide is mixed with an organic compound having at least one hydroxyl group. Thereafter, the resulting calcium oxide admixed with the organic compound is slaked, thereby obtaining powdery calcium hydroxide.
