Parking space length determination method

The method involves analysing backscattering signals of transmitted signal beams (5,6) to determine the position of a moving vehicle (4). The position is determined by starting at the front end of the back vehicle (3) and measuring the distance between the front vehicle (2) and the driving vehicle. The distance (d) between the parked vehicles is calculated. Preferably, a distance measurement is carried out to the front vehicle to determine the front end of the back vehicle at the time t1. The side clearance of the driving vehicle to the back vehicle is measured to determine the position of the driving vehicle to the front end of the back vehicle.
