The present invention discloses a diaphragm valve having a platform and a complementary cover. The platform includes inlet and outlet passages for movement of fluid inside and outside the valve. An elastomeric diaphragm is kept under tension between the cover and platform so as to control fluid flow between the passages. The cover includes an expansion zone on the surface adjacent the diaphragm, provided between the inlet and the outlet. The fluid can circulate through the valve only when said fluid is under enough pressure so as to displace the diaphragm inside the expansion zone, thus creating a flow trajectory from the inlet, between the diaphragm and platform, and towards the outlet. When pressure over the fluid ceases, the diaphragm returns back to its normal position and seals the inlet and outlet, thereby preventing the fluid from flowing between them.
