Vehicle airbag system

The system has an airbag (4) in the head area and mounted in the head rest (6) of the passengers seat (1). Following an actuating signal, a gas generator (2) suddenly injects gas into the airbag through a gas pressure pipe (5) which runs through or is formed by the holder (7) of the head rest on the vehicle seat. The gas generator is mounted inside the gas pressure pipe or inside a head rest support holding same. A further airbag (3) can be connected to the same gas generator by a gas pressure pipe (5').
